The two equations given in the question are
y = - x + 5
and
5x + 2y =14
Now we will have to put the value of y from the first equation in the second equation and then calculate.
5x + 2y = 14
5x + 2(-x + 5) = 14
5x - 2x + 10 = 14
3x = 14 - 10
3x = 4
x = 4/3
Now we have to put the value of x in the first equation for determining the value of y
y = - x + 5
   = - (4/3) + 5
   = (15 - 4)/3
   = 11/3
So the value of x is 4/3 and the value of y is 11/3.
