What is the difference between an index and a glossary

An index is a listing of the contents of a book, article, page, paragraph etc.

While a glossary is a listing of definitions or comments of a written work.

Glossary is usually definitions of things. The index is also in the back of the textbook but, it helps you find the page of things you might be looking for
